Weber Custom Guitar

Steve Weber and Joe Glaser
I was trained on the Plek Station by master luthier Joe Glaser of Glaser Instruments, Nashville, TN. Joe has years of guitar building and servicing experience (he is the inventor of the b-bender Tele, and the Nashville Telecaster) and is considered one of the very best in the business. Joe shared tricks and techniques to get the best results from the Plek Station. It was an honor for me to work with Joe.

Who/What We Are:

Weber Custom Guitars, LLC is a small one-off custom builder located in Granville, Ohio. Specializing in custom built guitars and professional set-up and refretting services for electric guitars, acoustics, classicals, and basses.

I use Plek computerized fret dressing and nut/saddle cutting in conjunction with traditional luthier methods. Why? In a word…Precision.

Having worked on guitars for many years, and being a player for almost 40 years, I have made some interesting observations. One is that players' instruments are an extension of themselves, a personal tool finely tailored to fit them. A good musician has a relationship with an instrument; it's an extension of themselves and their talent. Another is that "off the shelf" instruments usually need a bit of help to get the best playability from them and make them "your own"

And playability for fretted instruments is key. Have you ever gone into your favorite music store, picked up a beautiful guitar that lay perfectly in your hand only to find that it played terrible? The action too high, the strings a bit too close together and seemed "crowded", there is buzzing at certain frets, and an otherwise great guitar plays like crap. Or, the opposite is true. The guitar that looks like crap, and plays like a million bucks! What's the secret? Precision set-up.

That's why Weber Custom Guitars, LLC has installed the latest technology from Germany. Gerd Anke and Michael Dubach of A+D Gitarrentechnologie GmbH of Berlin, Germany began working on this process almost twenty years ago.

Plek is a registered trademark of A+D Gitarrentechnologie GmbH, Berlin, Germany

Plek technology has been perfected to such an extent that that it is now used by such manufacturers as Gibson Custom Shop, G & L Guitars, Martin, Takamine, and other high-end manufacturers.

Again, precision. Accuracy to .0004"! Get the whole story at www.plek.com.
